Abstract

This study aims to analyze the innovation of learning models in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools) to improve students’ literacy and numeracy skills. The background of this research arises from the paradigm shift in Islamic basic education, which emphasizes not only cognitive achievement but also the strengthening of fundamental skills and character values through active and digital-based learning approaches. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at MI Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Jember. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. The findings indicate that learning innovation in the madrasah has shifted from conventional to more collaborative and technology-integrated models, such as project-based learning and blended learning, which effectively enhance students’ engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. The integration of digital media not only strengthens literacy and numeracy competencies but also fosters creativity, independence, and collaboration among students. This study concludes that digital-based learning innovation in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah significantly contributes to improving the quality of foundational education and represents a strategic step toward realizing an adaptive and future-oriented Islamic education in the digital era.
